An inter-ministerial professional committee will accompany the ESC in professional decision-making and the examination of adapting treatment alternatives to remediation sites, prior to presenting these issues before the Steering Committee for its decision or approval. Members of the committee will include two representatives on behalf of the Ministry of Environmental Protection (a representative of the Contaminated Land Division and a representative of the relevant regional unit), a representative of the Water Authority, a representative of ILA, two representatives of ESC and a supervising representative on behalf of the Ministry.
The Environmental Services Company (ESC) serves as the executive body of the Ministry of Environmental Protection for the purposes of managing the soil remediation project. ESC publishes and manages the tenders for works on aspects of remediation, supervises and audits contractors and coordinates between the numerous relevant factors that operate in the framework of the project.
